SUDDEN heavy rains did not stop PNTC Colleges to celebrate its foundation day at the Quirino Grandstand with the theme “A Decade of Quality Education and Training.”
Officially opening the program were march of honors and cadets’ salutation to the school’s president Atty. Hernani Fabia.
Faculty member Dr. Aida Pardales led the invocation, then the singing of the Philippine National Anthem.
Fabia, who celebrated his birthday on the same day, headed the trooping of the line by marching across the historic venue.
It was immediately followed by the entrance of colors, the formal presentation of cadet companies and the ceremonial parade, consecutively.
A surprised Fabia—referred as the think tank of the institution—blew the birthday cake before delivering his inspirational  message.
“Today, we are celebrating our years of continued achievement that reaffirm our commitment to the visions of PNTC [Colleges],” Fabia said.
Fabia emphasized the accomplishment in serving the nation as the institution “economically and socially transformed the way of lives of thousands of Filipino seafarers.”
“At PNTC [Colleges], quality training and education that ensure employability is our top priority. PNTC is now a school ready to confront the challenges of the future from good to great,” he assured the audience.
“We are looking at the great numbers of students enrolling up to 10,000 in the year 2013,” Fabia continued.
He also extended his gratitude to the people behind the success of PNTC Colleges.
Meanwhile, PNTC Colleges Manila, PNTC Colleges DasmariƱas and PNTC Colleges Nova cheer dance groups, which were composed of students and instructors, still continued their performances despite sudden heavy rains.
As appreciation, the crowd readily gave them rounds of applauses and chanted for the groups’ amazing routines without any hesitation.
Crowd estimate was set at not less than 5,000 including students, school staff and faculty members in this Quirino grandstand celebration.
Meanwhile, series of sports competition including basketball, volleyball and chess, among many others were held as part of the celebration.
Students were also welcome to set up booths, and other worthwhile contests like poster making at the school grounds. These kinds of competition encouraged talented students to express their creative and artistic sides.
Film showing was also conducted as part of the celebration.
The President’s birthday celebration immediately followed at the Golden Bay Restaurant in Pasay City (With reports from Dr. Lolita Fernandez).
